14-Jun-2019:
Bhakti Sangeet
It’s our Jain tradition to bring eternal bhaava, before doing any Jain rituals. Bhakti is nothing but our dedication coming out from bottom of our heart, the love to the beloved our great Gods and their countless attributes! And of course, if this Bhakti plays with absolute pure bhaava with great sangeet, then it can bring mukti too.

15-Jun-2019:
Uthapan
Uthapan refers to shifting of idols from one place to the other. Sthapana refers to placing of the idol in its new place. These two rituals are the main part of the Prathishta Mahotsav. Several pujas and chants are performed during the rituals taking permission of God before moving and placing them in the new place.

Cultural Center Inauguration
We fulfill the first step in our dream, to move to a larger location that would host Canada’s first Shikharbandhi Derasar. In 2012, 4.1 acres of land with unfinished structure of 48,000 Sq. Ft. was bought at 441 Ellesmere. In 2019, we open the finished Cultural Center and lay the foundation of our Derasar.

Patla Pujan
Nav Graha (Nine Planets), Das Dikpal, Ashta Mangal and Ashtaprakari (Puja of the Tirthankar with 8 different items symbolizing a virtue) Puja are be performed. They connect the main rituals exemplifying the whole occasion. It is believed that during all these pujans, the Adhishtayak Devi / Devtas are present who not only make the occasion pious and grand but also help us perform rituals without hurdles.

Bhumi Pujan
Bhumi Pujan marks the beginning of the journey for our new Derasar. This ceremony is conducted specifically to remove impurities permeating the land where the Temple is to be built. As per Jain scriptures, suitability of the site for building Derasar is ascertained by caring out various rituals, categorized as Bhumi Puja, which we are orienting with the help of principle of the art of Vastu Shastra. Vastu Shastra works on the concept of balancing energy, as the celestial balance is held by gravitational energy. Earth being part of celestial world has magnetic field too. By doing this Bhumi Pujan it creates a great dominant effect and positive aura of incoming magnetic field of living Pratima (Idol) on all living beings and even non-living objects inhabiting our Mother Earth.

Khaat Muhurat
Khaat or Khanan means ‘to dig’. Khaat muhurat refers to the holy time for digging the grounds. The initiation of the Temple construction starts with laying of the foundation stone. However, before laying the foundation stone, a pit must be dug. The process of digging the pit should be done at holy time (shubh muhurat) only so as to ensure that the entire process is completed without any obstacles. Khaat Muhurat encompasses puja ceremonies for seeking permission from the living organisms present in the soil, before digging.

Sthapana
Uthapan refers to shifting of idols from one place to the other. Sthapana refers to placing of the idol in its new place. These two rituals are the main part of the Prathishta Mahotsav. Several pujas and chants are performed during the rituals taking permission of God before moving and replacing them to a new place.

Shilanyas – Shila Ropan
Shila means strong solid rock like foundation, Ropan means laying/placing. Shilanyas or Shila Ropan is a sacred ritual where the foundation areas are excavated and the pillars or stones are placed as the base for the temple. In our religion, tortoise’s back (Kurm) is believed as the strongest and unbreakable rock. Therefore, stones (Shilas) are sanctified and fixed on the Kurm made out of gold, which fortifies the foundations of the Temple perpetually. The ritual consists placing of eight Dikpal shilas in the eight cardinal directions (dishas) and three shilas (Dharani Shila) below the center of the main Ghabara. While the Dharani Shila depicts life in all its forms, each Dikpal Shilas depict the weapons borne in the arms of the guardians (Ashta-Dikpal) of the eight directions. During the entire ritual, holy scripts are chanted seeking the forgiveness of the living organisms that will be affected because of the construction and permission from the holy spirits is taken to build the Temple.

With eternal blessings of Panch Parmeshthi, JSOT is moving one-step closer to the dream of our own Shikharbandhi Derasar. Our Derasar will be built on this strong foundation, a perpetual source of Jainism based inspiration for generations to come!
